Report: Microsoft wants Fallout 5 to come sooner

Estimated read time 2 min read

Fallout has become one of the hottest game series in the month of April since the Prime Video TV Series came out on April 10, 2024. The television show has inspired thousands to millions of players to hop onto the games from Fallout 3 all the way to Fallout 76. With all of the talk around the Bethesda game series, there are reports that Microsoft may want a Fallout 5 to come sooner than initially planned.

We probably shouldn’t expect a Fallout 5 until the early 2030s since Bethesda Game Studios is still doing work on Starfield and has Elder Scrolls 6 in active development. With that happening, Xbox wants to ramp up the development of Fallout 5 by giving it to another studio.

According to Jez Corden of the Xbox Two Podcast and Windows Central, Microsoft is aware of the demand for the next Fallout game. They also realize how successful the game could be when it is released in the future.

The last time a Fallout game was developed by a studio other than Bethesda Game Studio was Obsidian Entertainment which developed Fallout New Vegas. Microsoft also owns Obsidian and it would make great sense to go with them for the next Fallout, but they are also working on Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2.

Bethesda confirmed there will be a Season 2 for the Fallout Television Series on Prime Video and it will including New Vegas Canonically.

Are you ready for a Fallout 5?
