The world of video games, comics, and cinema has always been an interconnected world. The industry is full of examples of comics that have become video games, films, and so on. Marvel is certainly not an exception to all this. In fact, in these last few hours, Marvel Rivals was announced, a new free-to-play game that will put us in the shoes of one of the Marvel heroes. Marvel Rivals will arrive on PC during the month of May, although we don’t yet have a precise date. It is a free-to-play shooter game that will allow us to control one of the characters present in the initial roster. Our task will be to create a team and try to stay alive until the end. Let’s say that the idea is very similar to games such as Overwatch, Apex Legends, etc.
Marvel Rivals’ story is about Doctor Doom, a mean ruler, and his future self from 2099. They clash and make lots of different universes crash together in something called the Timestream Entanglement. This causes new worlds and problems we don’t know about yet. Now, heroes and villains from different universes have to team up or fight each other. They want to beat both Dooms before they take over everything.

So, at launch, the game will give you the opportunity to choose between 18 different characters, each with their own characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses. However, the developers have made it known that more characters will be added in future updates.
Furthermore, these updates will also add new maps to battle in, as well as other content. At the moment, obviously, we have no news on this matter, but we are sure that the development team will release some information shortly.
In any case, the developers are placing great faith in this project, especially given its free-to-play nature. Only time will be able to tell us whether the formula studied by the developers is successful or not. Marvel Rivals will have to make its way among a lot of competition, with games that have been cornerstones of the genre for years, but if they are good at making the project innovative, it is very likely that they will be able to get people talking about the product for some time.
