Ubisoft has announced another wave of 45 layoffs after a recent one that affected 60 people to “streamline operations.”

The technology world grew immensely during the pandemic, and companies are trying to “streamline their operations” nowadays.

Many of them hired a vast number of employees during the pandemic, and now, some are trying to reduce their workforce for more profit. Well, AI has evolved, and less workforce is needed in certain areas, which is also a scary but legitimate fact.

Ubisoft is one of the companies that has laid off a small portion of its workforce. According to the latest news, Ubisoft has parted ways with 45 employees.

Ubisoft laid off 45 more personnel

With the announcement of 45 job cuts, Ubisoft is making another move to change how it operates to stay competitive.

The layoffs touch on the teams that handle game publishing and work in the Asia-Pacific area, showing Ubisoft’s effort to cut down on extra costs and work more efficiently.

“We are further reorganising our global publishing central and APAC structures to adapt them to the market evolution with a more efficient and agile approach. These are not decisions taken lightly and we are providing comprehensive support for our impacted colleagues. We also want to share our utmost gratitude and respect for their many contributions to the company.”

The recent one affected 60

Not too long ago, Ubisoft also reduced its workforce by 60, focusing on customer service positions in the US and UK.

This was part of Ubisoft’s plan to reshape its customer service team to be more effective and continue supporting gamers worldwide. The job cuts were mainly in offices in Cary, North Carolina, and Newcastle, UK, impacting a crucial part of Ubisoft’s support for its players.

“Ubisoft’s Customer Relation Center team is evolving its organization to focus on where we can have a significant impact while remaining steadfast in our commitment to consistently support our players anywhere in the world”

Earlier in the year, Ubisoft had already started to tighten its belt by lowering its expectations of earnings, stopping work on three projects, and planning to save money through careful restructuring.

This included closing down some offices, like Ubisoft Benelux, as part of a bigger plan to better organize its teams across Europe.
