Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap and partners Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara will be producing the live-action film based on the real estate-inspired board game.

Monopoly is a globally recognized board game brand available in over 100 countries, having sold almost 500 million copies since 1935. It’s clearly one of the few very iconic board games that the majority of people will know about.

Right now it’s unsure who will play certain roles in the live-action Monopoly movie such as Milburn Pennybags better known as “Rich Uncle” Pennybags, the mascot of the board game of Monopoly.

This announcement came from CinemaCon and Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson did say that LuckyChap has “a clear point of view” on the upcoming movie.

“They are exceptional producers who choose their projects with great thought and care, and join Monopoly with a clear point of view. We are tremendously excited to be working with the entire LuckyChap team on what we all believe can be their next blockbuster.” Fogelson told Variety.

Film adaptations of our favorite video games and now board games seem to be the new normal these days. Minecraft will be getting a live-action adaptation in April 2025 and Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 will come to theaters in 2025.
