Helldivers 2 on PC will require a PSN account soon

Arrowhead Studios made an announcement that may not please PC players who have been enjoying Helldivers 2. Starting on May 6, new players will be required to link a PSN account to play Helldivers 2 on PC via Steam, and June 4 for current players with mandatory login beginning May 30.

The PlayStation Studio states that account linking plays a critical role in protecting its players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games.

“Account linking plays a critical role in protecting our players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games. This is our main way to protect players from griefing and abuse by enabling the banning of players that engage in that type of behaviour. It also allows those players that have been banned the right to appeal.”

Players haven’t taken this news kindly with over 60,000 negative reviews left for Helldivers 2. That would likely count people who also did not purchase the game on Steam.

Turns out it's actually 62k negative reviews in one day, accounting for 13% of all reviews, if you account for reviews written by people who didn't buy the game directly on Steam. https://t.co/XCrPHtxpgK

Helldivers 2 is an addictively fun co-op shooter that delivers explosive thrills and laughs. It’s currently console exclusive to PlayStation, but discussions of it coming to Xbox have reportedly begun.
