Twitch Streamer Ninja Reveals Having Skin Cancer Diagnosis, But Doctors Are ‘Optimistic’

One of the most recognizable Twitch streamers and Fortnite players in the world, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, has revealed on social media that he was startled to learn he had skin cancer. The 32-year-old Mr. Blevins wrote a lengthy message on Twitter stating that a suspicious mole on his foot was discovered after a dermatologist’s examination and was then sent for a biopsy. It was found upon receiving the results that the “dark spot” on the bottom of his foot was, in fact, melanoma, a type of skin cancer.

Despite the upsetting news, Ninja remained optimistic, mentioning that his doctors believe the cancer was detected in its early stages. He clarified that a follow-up biopsy is being conducted to determine whether the entire malignancy in his foot has been removed or if additional care is required.

While directing his followers to schedule checkups proactively, he said, “I’m grateful to have hope in finding this early, but please take this as a PSA to get skin checkups.”

His initial announcement read, “Alright I’m still in a bit of shock but want to keep you all updated. A few weeks ago I went in to a dermatologist for an annual skin/mole check that Jess proactively scheduled for me. There was a mole on the bottom of my foot that they wanted to remove just to be careful. It came back as melanoma, but they are optimistic that we caught it in the early stages. I had another dark spot appear near it, so today they biopsied that and removed a larger area around the melanoma with the hopes that under the microscope they will see clear non-melanoma edges and we will know we got it.”

Following his announcement, peers and other content creators showered their admiration for Ninja in the comments section.

Ninja’s rise to fame in the gaming world has been nothing short of an overnight shift. He now has over 19 million Twitch followers and is the multimillionaire face of the well-liked battle royale video game Fortnite. Together with 6 million followers on X, he has over 12 million Instagram followers. Moreover, his influence goes over just gaming, as seen through his appearances on well-known TV programs like The Masked Singer US.
