The RimWorld Anomaly release date is almost upon us. The colony sim’s latest expansion will release alongside it’s 1.5 update.

This will be the fourth paid expansion coinciding with the fifth version update. Since its original full release in 2018, RimWorld has gotten expansions in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Needless to say, fans will be excited to finally get new official content. As it stands, RimWorld is already one of the best civilization building games on the market.

Thus, we can only imagine how much better it’ll be with a bunch of new features.

The release date for the Anomaly expansion is April 11, 2024.

Every expansion has brought fun new dynamics to the core RimWorld gameplay.

Royalty added titles, psychic powers, mechanoids, and the empire faction. Ideology brought belief systems to expand on buildings, apparel, quests, and social roles. Biotech added children, gene modification, new factions, and pollution.

Now, with Anomaly, we’re expanding RimWorld with Lovecraftian horrors and nightmarish new enemies.

Front and center are the Flesh Beasts. This new faction of organic monstrosities spread as a disgusting, visceral virus. If you’re lucky, you’ll have to deal with them in quests where a Fleshmass Heart has overtaken an unlucky settlement.

However, if you’re unlucky, then a pit gate will begin opening under your settlement. You’d better relocate quickly before it fully opens. In that case, grab your best fighters and get ready to delve into the slimy guts and defeat the dreadmeld.

Unfortunately for us players, that’s just the beginning. As part of its upcoming release, RimWorld Anomaly also brings undead hordes, invisible revenants, massive water-beasts, and metallic puppeteer parasites.

New enemies, new weapons, new buildings

Fortunately, Rimworld Anomaly brings more than just horrific foes with its release date. After all, the Cthulhu mythos is only one of its influences. Other horrors that infest this update are Cabin in the Woods, The Thing, Hellraiser and more.

So of course, you get a new armory of weapons to fight back (or maybe spread) the eldritch evils. For example, flamethrowers can burn away the flesh beasts, or flesh-mutating pulsers can transform unlucky human raiders.

Of course, a lot of these new toys will need some forbidden knowledge to craft.

To that end, you can now build containment facilities. With these, you can examine, study, research, and harvest captured monstrosities. Turn the nightmares into resources, experimental serums, psychic rituals, unholy surgeries, or horrific constructions.

However, you’re not the only ones with an interest in the blasphemous. The new cultist faction will use malevolent magics to curse and attack your colony.

You can try defeat them through mundane methods, sure… But you can also fight fire with fire. Learn the dark arts and take their rituals for your own. Summon the dead, rain blood, steal minds and health, and commit many more awful atrocities upon your foes.

Fittingly, RimWorld Anomaly also brings a new ending. The abyssal void will swallow the whole world and your colony will need to choose a fate.

For those who don’t want to buy the expansion, there’s still a reason to look forward to the Anomaly release date.

It will coincide with patch 1.5, which brings a variety of new features to the base game. This includes new fun additions like books as a recreation option, as well as much-requested options like wall lights and hidden conduits.
