South of Midnight from Compulsion was first announced last year at the Xbox Showcase and it has returned with a look at its gameplay and a release window. South of Midnight is slated to release in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and it will be available on day one on Game Pass.
What Is South of Midnight?
The gameplay shown is just a third of the way in South of Midnight and reintroduces Hazel who we saw in the initial teaser of the game. She is accompanied by the Loquacious Catfish who accompanies Hazel throughout the game.
Following a Category 5 hurricane, Hazel has lost her mother, but gained once-dormant powers of Weaving, a magical ability that allows her to rework the tapestry of energy that makes up the universe. That doesn’t come too soon – reality itself has begun to fray, leading her deeper and deeper into a magical realist world, where folktale creatures have sprung to life, and corruption is overtaking the ruins left in the hurricane’s path.
As of now, it’s expected to be an Xbox console exclusive.
