Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition launches July 18, 2024

Nintendo officially announced the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition and it’s releasing on July 18, 2024. The competition is coming to your living room soon with 13 classic NES games that will feature over 150 speedrun challenges.

Players can warm up by setting and beating their own best times in the single-player Speedrun Mode, unlocking new challenges and unique in-game pins. Up to 8 players can compete locally in a Party Mode just like the actual Nintendo World Championships. If you are a Nintendo Switch Online member, you will be able to enter World Championships Mode to submit your best times in five challenges that rotate each week.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition – Deluxe Set costs $59.99 providing nostalgic physical goodies and there is the digital version of the game for $29.99. Pre-orders are available now at Best Buy, Target, GameStop, and other select retailers.

In other Nintendo news, the company announced the Switch successor will be announced by the end of fiscal year 2025. The Nintendo Switch also reached over 140 million sales and is inching closer to the Nintendo DS.
