Helldivers 2 player count on Steam is still strong despite negative reviews

Estimated read time 2 min read

Helldivers 2 has taken some heat lately and it has nothing to do with the gameplay. Instead, the issue comes from a decision Sony made that would make PC players link a PSN account in order to play the game. As of May 4, 2024, Helldivers 2 on Steam has “Mostly Negative” and “Mixed” reviews with over 162K reviews and the number continues to grow.

While there seems to be negativity aimed at Helldivers 2 it’s more of fans not agreeing with a sudden decision from PlayStation. When the co-op third-person shooter was released on February 8, 2024, there was never a need to link a PSN account but doing this would protect players.

The Helldivers 2 player count on Steam remains to be consistent with what it has been with over 100K concurrent players during the weekend of May 3-5. Thanks to Steam Charts for this information.

Not Happy? You can refund Helldivers 2

Steam has started to accept refunds for the Helldivers sequel even if you played well beyond 2 hours. Players who spent over 100 hours playing the new title from Arrowhead Studios have been able to get a refund. Overall, this is a very interesting protest against Sony’s surprise decision and we have yet to see a response from the company.

At the moment, there are no confirmed plans to release Helldivers for Xbox Series X|S. However, there have been rumors circulating that the possibility of bringing the popular game to the latest Xbox consoles has been discussed internally.
