Sony has announced a new update to the Discord app on PlayStation 5 in the coming weeks. Soon enough, all PS5 players can use Discord voice chat directly from their console. Originally, players would have to rely on the Discord PC or mobile apps to start the connection.

The update will be rolling out over the coming weeks starting with Japan/Asia, Sony stated in the announcement post. To start a Discord voice chat on PS5 is pretty simple.

You’ll have to select the Discord tab in Game Base within the PS5 Control Center and choose the Discord server or DM group you’d like to join. Then, select your preferred voice channel. Once done, it will reveal more details, such as who is already in the channel talking. When another Discord user calls you, a PS5 console notification will appear allowing you to join instantly.

Discord has become a very popular addition to PlayStation 5. Since it came to the console, players have joined a Discord voice chat more than 290 million times to hang out with friends while gaming. Now, it’ll be an even easier process without relying on other devices to talk.
